Microsystems: Su Jok - Vesna Zdravkovic
Hand and foot (called Su Jok from the Korean meaning "hand and foot") acupuncture are the key microsystems taught in our microsystems diploma. Su Jok Therapy is a brilliant discovery by Korean scientist Prof. Park Jae Woo, who after many years of careful observation and clinical experience developed a system of therapy using only the hands and feet to relieve bodily problems. He found a complete correspondence system representing the whole body, on the hands and the feet.YOUR HEALTH IS TRULY IN YOUR HANDS
Hands and feet are parts of the body that are commonly subjected to mechanical and other kinds of irritation during walking or any other work. Those irritations provide maintenance of health in the organism; due to them we are not constantly sick. Don't we start to rub our hands first when it is cold? Aren't warm feet a basis for comfort in cold conditions?
When illness occurs in a specific place of your body, points and zones of high sensitivity appear in the correspondence systems of the hands and feet. If we influence these points there appears to be an impulse that goes to the area of illness and points of pathology in your body that in turn start to harmonise itself. This is the foundation of Su Jok Microsystem Therapy. After many years of careful observation and clinical experience Korean scientist Prof. Park Jae Woo developed a new system of therapy using the hands and feet to relieve bodily problems. He found a complete correspondence system representing the whole body, on the hands and feet.
Have a closer look at your hands
In addition to serving their normal function as appendages of the four limbs, the hands and feet themselves represent a small mirror image of the human body (microsystem) as a whole. The most common used is The Standard Correspondence Systems on our hands. It’s based on the similarity of hand/foot structure and human body parts. This likeness includes the number, the level of location, the directions and proportions of the protruding parts. There is also the very obvious similarity of the thumb to the head.
A course has been developed to introduce acupuncturists to the benefits of Su Jok therapy as an adjunct to regular practice - enabling practitioners to provide a safe, more comprehensive clinical practice in this specialized area. | ![]() |
| Hands and feet are endowed with a "remote control" function, which can be employed to normalise the entirety oc body functioning or its parts. Having a mind/body correspondence on our hands, we have to find correspondence points to the body part that we need to stimulate. A Diagnostic stick is used to determine the most painful point on hand/foot. It can also be used to massage the selected correspondence point. Massage rings, sticks and rollers are also used for Su Jok massage on hands and feet. Simple hand massage is another effective therapeutic option. | |
