BHSc Acupuncture, International Standard Acupuncture, Chinese Herbal Medicine, Tuina, Qi Gong Courses.
Student performance is evaluated by examination (oral and written), attendance, class participation, academic reports, skill demonstration, clinical proficiency, and professional behaviour and comportment.
To advance into the following stage, students must pass the required assessments.
The opportunity to repeat appropriate assessments will be granted to students who do not pass. When grades and skills are consistently below an acceptable standard, students can reapply to repeat that stage.
Attending an Assessment
When students do not attend a scheduled assessment they are automatically given a NOT YET COMPETENT (NYC) result. Assessments are offered at the end of each lecture series and the end of terms 2 and 4. Students may attend any of the scheduled assessment times.
However, if students plan to sit the end of term assessments, notice must be given in writing to Administration not less than two weeks before the end of those terms or they are not allowed to sit at those assessment times.
Please remember that progress to the next stage (year) requires ALL assessments of the current stage be successfully completed.
National Standard Acupuncture Course
Student performance is evaluated in the form of oral, written, procedures, projects and workplace assessments. Assessment is against the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) standard for acupuncture.
Students must demonstrate competency in all assessment tasks to gain a qualification. Re-assessment tasks will be set as required.
Grades / Reports
Students take end of lecture assessments each term or semester. In order to complete the program in the minimum allowed time period of 132 weeks for Acupuncture from the date of initial enrollment in the program, a student must successfully pass all classes each term and complete their clinical internship requirements.
Internal summative assessment results are issued to students at the end of terms 1 and 3 or the end of each semester. The school maintains a cumulative academic record for all students, consisting of individual class grades or status, and internship hours. This is updated at the end of each term or semester. These records are maintained permanently. In addition, any student hooked on with NZQA has their unit standard achievements permanently stored there. An appointment with an administrator can be made to discuss any aspects of the record.
